GROUNDING FOOD FOR EMPATHS

GROUNDING FRIED RICE

I recently did a cookshop for josie’s sensitive soul course, so I created a simple recipe for empaths and sensitives in mind. Something quick to make and very comforting. I have this dish and variations of it about once a week. As an empath Its so nourishing for me, very grounding which is very important for sensitive people or empaths. Very simple to prepare and make, you can use any veggies you have in the fridge along with some cupboard essentials, great dish if your feeling very unsettled. Following a recent post of mine, about food and energy, this is very important as an empath, following Chinese medicine principles all food carries a certain vibration and each source of food we eat will affect our way of being. So as empaths its extremely important to eat very natural high vibrational grounding food. This dish includes some grounding ingredients based upon Chinese medicine and is also a lovely Chinese inspired dish, it works for me every time, I love it. I like to channel my inner wok master when creating this dish, super high heat and aggressive cooking. Drop a bowl of fried rice in front of me with some veggies in it and Im a happy man.

Serves 2

Rice

  • 1/2 cup white rice

  • 1 cup boiling water

  • 1 stick cinnamon

  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil

  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil

  • 1 teaspoon coconut aminos

  • himalayan salt

Veggies

  • Any of the following green veggies - green beans , broccoli, courgette, pak choi, spinach (finely chopped)

  • 1 carrot (finely chopped)

  • Handful cashews

  • 2 garlic cloves (finely chopped)

  • 1 teaspoon ginger powder

  • 2 teaspoons sesame seeds

  • handful fresh coriander

  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil

  • 1 tablespoon coconut aminos

  • 1 tablespoon rapeseed oil

  • Plenty himalayan salt and black pepper

Garnish

Chilli, sesame seeds, black cumin seeds

Method

Wash you rice in cold water a few times to remove the starch. In a saucepan add your salt and coconut oil and cinnamon and bring to a low heat to melt oil and let the cinnamon infuse. Then add your rice and give it a stir let it get kissed by the heat very slightly.  TIP - For 1/2 cup of rice you need 1 cup of boiling water. Add the water to the sauce pan, bring it to the boil, let it boil for 1 minute, then lid on and drop the heat just over half way.

While the rice is cooking add the cashews into a dry wok on medium heat. This is to toast the cashews so they go golden and give a nice flavour. Once they are golden add the rapeseed oil and increase the heat to high, add the garlic for a minute, moving the pan and stirring continually, then add your veggies and season well. Its very important to cook high and quickly so you can almost char the veggies and give that Chinese smoky flavour. After 5 minutes add sesame seeds, sesame oil, coconut aminos a fresh coriander.

Serve up with some sesame seeds and chilli on top.
